WALES

14 NIGHT STANDARD ITINERARY

DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN NORTH WALES

Check in at the Merrion Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Llandudno.

Overnight - The Merrion Hotel, Llandudno

DAY 2 - LLANDUDNO (NORTH WALES) GOLF CLUB

Llandudno (North Wales) is one of the oldest courses on Wales' northern coastline. North Wales offers its biggest challenge to those golfers blessed with a hook for its front nine runs out alongside the railway line and the back nine returns along the coast.

Overnight - The Merrion Hotel, Llandudno

DAY 3 - CONWY GOLF CLUB

Conwy has given its name to a river, a mountain, a magnificent castle and a championship links golf course that played a distinctive role in two World Wars. It has played a major role in championship golf ever since, the quality of its challenge matched by a spectacular setting between mountain, river and sea.

Overnight - The Merrion Hotel, Llandudno

DAY 4 - MOVING SOUTH

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head south to the famous town of Caernarfon. Check in at the elegantly restored Celtic Royal Hotel, an 1841 listed building. The hotel also boasts an excellent leisure club.

Overnight - The Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon

DAY 5 - ROYAL ST DAVID'S GOLF CLUB

Royal St David's is rightly regarded by many as the finest course in Wales. Only twice do successive holes proceed in the same direction so the wind invariably spreads trouble as you negotiate your away around the holes. Although not long, the course has been described by professionals as the world's toughest par 69.

Overnight - The Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon

DAY 6 - NEFYN & DISTRICT GOLF CLUB

Nefyn is quite unique. Apart from having a pub two thirds of the way around the course, the views are exceptional and the course itself is very fair. Arguably the best holes are 11 to 18 which are situated on a headland.

Overnight - The Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon

DAY 7 - HOLYHEAD GOLF CLUB

Holyhead has no trees but gets its character from rocky outcrops, undulating fairways hemmed in by gorse - and sea views, none finer than at the elevated 10th tee from where a 360 degree panorama takes in Snowdonia, the Lly n Peninsula and a vast expanse of the Irish sea.

Overnight - The Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon

DAY 8 - TO SOUTH WALES

Having checked out of the hotel, take the coastal road south to the Gower Peninsular, one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Wales. Check in at the elegant Norton House Hotel, located in the delightful village of Mumbles on the Gower peninsular.

Overnight - The Norton House Hotel, Mumbles, Gower

DAY 9 - LANGLAND BAY GOLF CLUB

Langland Bay is one of several attractive courses in and around the Gower Peninsula. Combined with magnificent views, the course has small greens, plenty of bunkers and unwelcoming rough, all of which combine to ensure that you will have more to keep an eye on than the scenery.

Overnight - The Norton House Hotel, Mumbles, Gower

DAY 10 - PENNARD GOLF CLUB

They call Pennard the links in the sky because although it has all the trappings of a seaside links course it is perched high on a cliff-top west of Swansea. This brings double benefit to the lovers of links golf - the sand based fairways offer the usual pleasures and its lofty position provides outstanding views.

Overnight - The Norton House Hotel, Mumbles, Gower

DAY 11 - PYLE & KENFIG GOLF CLUB

Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club has two loops of 9 holes, with the back nine being regarded as the tougher of the two and with the final three holes regarded as the toughest of the lot. Each is over 400 yards, with deep bunkers before you, which culminate in a demanding finish.

Overnight - The Norton House Hotel, Mumbles, Gower

DAY 12 - MOVING EAST

From the Gower head for Cardiff, one of the most vibrant cities in Europe. Check in at the Jury's Hotel, which provides a quality and convenient base for this last stage of the itinerary.

Overnight - The Jury's Hotel, Cardiff

DAY 13 - SOUTHERNDOWN GOLF CLUB

Southerndown Golf Club is one of the finest natural downland courses with a tough finish culminating in an 18th hole that takes you towards the sea via a split-level fairway.

Overnight - The Jury's Hotel, Cardiff

DAY 14 - CELTIC MANOR - WENTWOOD HILLS

In 2010, the Wentwood Hills golf course will host the Ryder Cup. The course is a spectacular 7,400 yard, par 72 course. It is the ultimate test of golf.

Overnight - The Jury's Hotel, Cardiff

DAY 15 - DEPARTURES

After breakfast check out and reflect on the wonderful golfing experience that Wales offers.
