Newport Golf Club
Regardless of playing ability, every single golfer loves to play a golf course with superb, first-class greens. And that probably explains why Newport is one of Monmouthshire's most popular clubs.
The course is situated around 15 minutes' drive from Newport near the village of Rogerstone and is one of the best inland-type courses in Wales. It is often in the running when the Welsh Golf Union draws up a list of possible courses to host its events as the club has played host to the Welsh PGA Championship and the Welsh Ladies Amateur Strokeplay among other top events.
The Golf Club overlooks Newport Bay and is located north of the town and is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The course is sheltered between two hill ranges and the area generally enjoys a warmer climate compared to many parts of the country as a result of the Gulf Stream. These aspects are of particular benefit for winter golf.
