The Course

Hole 1 - Par 4 - Yardage 431 - S/I 9
The fairway at the first is lined with trees to the left and forestry to the right and slopes steeply up towards the green after 200 yards. Teeing up, driving to the left hand side of the fairway is the safe option, since a slice will result in you first lost ball of the day in the forest. The approach to the green is blind, and with two large frontal bunkers for defence, a player's accuracy is immediately tested.

Hole 2 - Par 4 - Yardage 435 - S/I 3
This par 4 looks longer than it is and its wide fairway begs for the driver to be hit with venom. Pushing your drive left however can leave you in a series of grass bunkers in the rough. The approach narrows and with just one long bunker to the left you will be tempted to go straight for the pin.

Hole 3 - Par 4 - Yardage 253 - S/I 17
The tee shot at this hole is blind over the crest of the hill, and can be comfortably driven with a three wood. Accuracy is of paramount importance since the green is difficult to hit and hold, and once on the two tiered green your putting skills are tested to the full.

Hole 4 - Par 4 - Yardage 350 - S/I 13
The views from this tee are simply spectacular, whereby you are privileged with a panoramic view of the coast and the course. From the tee, the safe option is to lay up short of the stream which runs right to left, however big hitters may choose to drive beyond this. A mid to short iron is all that is required for the approach, however accuracy is essential for this small green which is surrounded by taxing bunkers.

Hole 5 - Par 4 - Yardage 417 - S/I 5
A wide fairway encourages players to wind up their tee shot, leaving either a five wood or a long iron for the approach which slopes down to the green. There is one large bunker to the left of the green but none to the front thus allowing for a direct attempt at the green.

Hole 6 - Par 4 - Yardage 420 - S/I 1
A good drive from the tee, preferably to the right of the fairway is essential if you want a chance at hitting the green in two. Approach shots that go over the green leave you with a taxing chip back up onto the raised back of this green.

Hole 7 - Par 3 - Yardage 218 - S/I 7
A long iron or five wood is used to drop down to this difficult par 3 green. This hole is riddled with trouble if things go wrong: If you end up short: you have to contend with some nasty grass bunkers, too long: then its in the water, and to the left and right: more bunkers. Make sure you hit the green!

Hole 8 - Par 4 - Yardage 309 - S/I 15
This par 4 doglegs to the right, and the tee shot can be driven directly at the green. A pulled shot or slice here will leave you hacking your ball out the trees. The approach requires a good touch with a short iron aiming at the front of this backwards sloping green.

Hole 9 - Par 3 - Yardage 185 - S/I 11
At 170 yards this par three needs at least an extra club to compensate for the uphill slope. A small stand of pine trees hides a deep bunker at the front right of the green and another two bunkers are positioned to the front and left to gobble up stray balls.

Hole 10 - Par 5 - Yardage 536 - S/I 10
The first of three par fives on the back nine requires a good drive to put yourself in a position for the second. With four large water hazards that stretch across the fairway a lay up shot is necessary before a short iron or pitch is used into the green which has a long bunker defending its left flank.

Hole 11 - Par 5 - Yardage 513 - S/I 16
From one par five to another. The tee shot is driven up slope on this double dogleg, after which the second shot is carried over the crest and down slope towards the green. Big hitters can hit in two but risk burying the ball in two deep frontal bunkers or coming to rest on the difficult slopes at the back of the green. Laying up to leave a short iron or pitch in is the preferred option.

Hole 12 - Par 4 - Yardage 457 - S/I 2
The 12th looks no shorter than the previous back to back par 5's and is a surprise when you see that it is just a par 4. A good tee shot is needed to put yourself in a position to attack the green. En route to the green water to the left must be avoided and once at the green, a steep slope at its base further enhances the difficulty of this hole. You will be more than happy leaving this hole with a par or even a boggy.

Hole 13 - Par 3 - Yardage 175 - S/I 8
At 156 yards this is one of the easier holes requiring just a short to mid iron to the green. You must use the accuracy gained from using a short club to avoid the bunkers that defend the front of this green.

Hole 14 - Par 4 - Yardage 291 - S/I 14
The only way to play this hole is to take a three wood, avoid the fairway bunkers, and lay up short of the green which stands proud above the surrounding fairway. A delicate chip is needed to prevent your ball from over running the green, and running back down the slopes. After putting out, the magnificent views along the coast can then be taken in.

Hole 15 - Par 5 - Yardage 507 - S/I 6
The 15th is the last of the par 5's and again allows you to take in the views as you march towards the club house. The tee shot can be driven over the crest which then slopes down towards the club house. Not even the big hitters will try for the green in two, which is surrounded by no less than nine sand bunkers.

Hole 16 - Par 3 - Yardage 131 - S/I 18
After avoiding the temptation of the clubhouse you move to the 16th which directly overlooks the coast. At 131 yards it is the shortest hole on the course but is surrounded by three long bunkers to test your short game.

Hole 17 - Par 4 - Yardage 307 - S/I 4
With the trees to the left, and the sea to the right on this tighter fairway, some choose to keep the driver in the bag, and take either a 3 or 5 wood to leave a short iron into the green. The approach shot needs to be straight to avoid bunkers to the left and right.

Hole 18 - Par 3 - Yardage 184 - S/I 12
A medium iron is all that is needed on the final hole, but you must make sure your tee shot carries over the trees to avoid trouble. In addition, anything but straight will leave you digging out of one of four large bunkers which surround this green. After finishing this challenging course you will be coming back for more.
